What do School Counselors do?
Basically everything that involves students' social emotional, academic, and career exploration needs.
School counselors work from a strengths-based perspective to help all students persevere through challenging times. Centennial's counselors meet with students 1:1, in small and large groups, and with families and teachers.
School Counselors are like phantoms. One minute they are helping a student create a plan for catching up on missing assignments and the next they are in the cafeteria supervising and talking with kids.
New for 18/19 is the #ZenDen!
Centennial Counselors have created the #ZenDen attached to the space near their offices. The ZenDen will provide students with a quiet and peaceful place to calm down, gather thoughts, and hold small groups. Students will be able to access the space throughout the school day for limited amounts of time. 5 and 10 minute timers are available to help students focus their time and get back to class as soon as possible. Parents, there is even a small, but growing library of books for you to borrow!
